Preventative Dentistry in Toronto

Preventative Dentistry

The Canadian Dental Association recommends that you have your teeth cleaned at least every 6 months to prevent decay and gum disease. Children should come at least every six months. Brushing and flossing go hand in hand. Flossing at least once a day will help prevent cavities from forming in between the teeth and help your gums stay nice and healthy. But brushing can’t remove tartar, the hard substance that forms on your teeth at the gum line. Tartar can only be removed by a dental hygienist using special tools.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer screening may be the best way to detect oral cancer early. Dental hygienists screen for oral cancer as part of every dental hygiene appointment, regardless of age, and educate clients about risk factors and how to detect potential problems.
